P. h.D in Communication , NCCU

As the highest academic program in communication studies in Taiwan, the Doctoral Program in the College of Communication plays a vital role in advancing disciplinary knowledge and serves as a key national talent resource. Graduates are expected to take on diverse research and leadership roles in both academia and various sectors of society. Beyond traditional university teaching and research positions, they contribute their expertise to media industry regulatory bodies, government agencies, industry research and development, and industry-academia collaborations.

Ph.D. graduates have opportunities in a range of fields, including communication, telecommunications, and broadcasting industry management and R&D. They are also well-suited for roles in organizations such as the National Communications Commission, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Intellectual Property Office, the Institute for Information Industry, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and national scientific laboratories.

Between 2009 and 2019, a total of 38 students graduated from the program:

• 19 graduates (50%) secured academic positions, including:
  • 3 (8%) at national universities
  • 10 (26%) at private universities
  • 2 (5%) at technical and vocational universities
  • 3 (8%) at overseas universities
• 12 graduates (32%) entered the private sector
• 4 graduates (22%) joined government agencies
• 4 graduates (22%) took positions in corporate enterprises
• 2 graduates (5%) found employment in the media industry

These figures indicate that the majority of graduates pursue careers in higher education, primarily at domestic institutions, with many securing positions at private universities early in their careers. However, a significant portion also applies their expertise in industry, government, and media-related fields, reflecting the program's emphasis on both academic excellence and practical application.

本院博士班做為國內傳播學門之最高學制，在學門知識領域傳承扮演關鍵角色，也是國家重要的人力資源。未來本院博士班畢業生應當在大學及社會其他部門擔任更多元的研發與管理工作，如投身於傳播產業主管機關、政府部門、產業研發、產學合作等以貢獻其研究與創新能力。具體而言，除大專院校教學及研究工作外，博士生亦可任職於傳播／電信／電訊產業管理或研發部門、國家通訊傳播委員會、經濟部智財所、資策會、工研院、國家科學實驗室等。 

本班自設立以來至113學年度，共有28位博士畢業生(8位台生、20位陸生)，其中，約有20位(約71%)畢業生擔任教職，尤以任教於大陸高等教育機構者最多（15人，占52%），國內大專校院（含國立與私立）任教者共計4人（14%），另有1人（4%）於國中任教。

此外，有3位畢業生（11%）進入博士後研究階段，持續深耕學術領域，另有2人（7%）回任原政府機構。另有1位繼續修讀不同領域碩士學位，2位待業。
