The Doctoral Program in Communication Studies is committed to cultivating expert scholars who view communication research as their lifelong academic pursuit. The program seeks to both preserve and expand knowledge, values, and cultural advancements while nurturing socially engaged intellectuals who make meaningful contributions through practical application.

As Taiwan’s most established institution in communication studies, the College of Communication enjoys a strong reputation across East Asia. With extensive teaching and research resources, the College excels in pioneering fields such as communication theory, research methodology, and information design. Our academic approach emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering institutional innovation, large-scale research initiatives, and curriculum reform. The program has evolved from a traditional mass media-centered curriculum to one that integrates communication and information studies.

Recent research has focused on media narratives, persuasive strategies, and new media design. To prepare students for the challenges of globalization and a rapidly evolving communication landscape, the program goes beyond academic training. Doctoral candidates are required to participate in international conferences, publish in foreign-language journals, and complete at least two semesters of practical experience—through internships or industry-academic collaborations. These experiences enhance students' global perspectives and practical expertise, strengthening their international competitiveness and career prospects.
